I'm not enjoying the second season of Sleepy Hollow nearly as much either, and I agree that Katrina's right in the middle of what's wrong with it. I think part of the problem is that they have to keep her separated from Ichabod (the better to keep their relationship in a state of quantum uncertainty while Abbie and Ichabod grow ever closer), but they don't actually know how to write anything worth watching that doesn't ultimately hinge on love, teamwork, and other forms of human connection -- which is not a bad specialty to have by any means, but it meshes poorly with their decision to stick Katrina in a run-down mansion with a couple of horsemen of the apocalypse.

You know what might have been cool? If she'd escaped shortly after Abraham gave her the necklace, but discovered that a) she couldn't remove it and b) it rendered her and Ichabod mutually invisible (and inaudible, and intangible). That way, she would have been able to interact with everyone else and maybe grow a personality in the process, while remaining safely unobtainable in terms of matrimonial bliss. Plus, hilarious conversations by way of intermediaries, punctuated by heartbreaking handwritten notes!

There really has not been remotely enough Frank Irving.
