Also, the lines are definitely shapes, because there are complications beyond two-way paths all along. Like Cordelia's influence on Aral and Simon, for example. But to keep things simple the lines work. (I like the Ivan-and-Tej example. Huh! And that's something Miles threatened to do but didn't in the end. Just like becoming ImpSec Chief (well, he didn't threaten that, other people did, but...) Miles Vorkosigan: Deeply Conventional.)
