hedda62: Harold Finch, half in shadow, text: Oh, Mr. Finch (finch)
I am not on tumblr so can't reply directly, but yes, I think this was the "In Extremis" episode I actually wanted to see. The through-line sometimes breaks, or zigzags, or gets horribly tied up in knots, when writers try to do too many different things at the same time. And that was an episode and a half worth of plot, which at the very least skipped some logical steps, but how it really reads to me is they didn't think either storyline out in advance (by which I mean, from the beginning of everything, which is possibly unfair, but if you're going to have shout-backs, then do it right).

(Also, I am finally looking at the episode title and going, oh ha, they didn't just mean the doctor, did they, and hm, I did a whole lot of reading at one point (for reasons) on the idea of laypeople administering the sacraments, plus there is a legal twist as well... it's kind of like a summary of the entire series, isn't it? Things you can do in an emergency/at the point of death/when you are dead that aren't exactly kosher under other circumstances. People doing what they can even when it's not their job. Gifts that can be revoked if you don't die after all? *ponders* The episode titles are great on this show.)

I said this to [livejournal.com profile] yunitsa in a comment, but... my reading on John killing the trader guy is that by Reese-logic everything that's happening is his fault, because the Machine wouldn't be screwy without the virus, which wouldn't have been uploaded if he'd either killed Kara or saved her (by the same definition of "save" he uses about Harold), or if he'd just been smarter at one or another of the turning points, so therefore he needs to make up for it by sacrificing what he's gained morally and reverting to revenge-killing. How this relates to what he knows about Fusco's arc I need to think about more. But I really want the in-between scenes we're never going to get because the story's moving so fast.

In other news, I got a very nice signal boost the other day based on my 3-chapters-of-novel posting, which has resulted in more than 100 more hits and... I think 3 kudos, which is more or less what I expected, but it never hurts to be read. Anyway, expect a post about the books sometime in the next month or so. I really am going to get down to working on all of that. Though I know for the next two weeks I am good for nothing but a) desperately catching up on spring tasks, b) flailing about PoI.

*flails* *looks at next episode promo pics/cast list again and flails more*

Actually I am trying to write another prompt fill, but I have to set it earlier in the season because... I just do, and it feels increasingly... irrelevant. Ha. (I'll write it anyway, I'm pretty sure, and not just so I can use the working title "Untalked Of and Unseen." I'm stupidly fond of running jokes. And Romeo and Juliet.) And I can't even attempt to write the Fisher King thing until the season's over. At which point it will either be irresistible or consigned to the trash.
