hedda62: Harold Finch in his HAT (hat baby)
And other emotional expressions of ONE MORE DAY TILL DOOM-ness (I've got Dinah Washington on repeat in my inner ear, blaring out "You took the part that once was my heart, so baby come on back and take the rest of me"). I am saving the rewatch of PoI episodes until post-apocalypse, so when I collapsed in a literally sodden heap yesterday (not from crying; I'm not that badly off. It rained on a garden workday, again, dammit) I rewatched some "Lost," not the part in the subject line, but the end of season three whyever I thought that was a good plan, oh CHARLIE, oh Hurley way to rock the gun on the mantelpiece, oh Ben blood is such a good accessory on you almost as good as Finch's purple scarf and much better than Jack's emo-beard.

I've got a really busy weekend coming up (that starts with driving to PA very early Friday) so you probably won't hear from me again aside from possibly some incoherent whimpering at 10 pm tomorrow. So I thought I'd do another darlings post. I'm determined to keep up with these, egotistical as it may seem, because a) I am a stupid bundle of insecurities about writing and need the reinforcement and b) I continue to want to shoot "murder your darlings" in the kneecaps.

But I will put them under a cut this time. :) Five "Person of Interest" fics since I did this last. What the hell, etc.

So, Phoenix. I know what the best line is (the "bruiser in the middle of a bar fight" one) but my favorite line to write was "Well," Harold said with grim enthusiasm, "if I recall clearly, pretty darn--" because dialogue that hits the ear right is the thing I love most, and I can just hear him saying it.

For Halcyon I think my favorite line is Grace's deadpan "You share a dog." because it recognizes the total absurdity of the situation, oh them. But I'm also fond of He'd already said I love you several ways over the course of the night; he couldn't think of any others right now and the declaration didn't seem to go with a discussion of employment policy anyway. For the same reason, probably.

The Rest Is Silence is all about dialogue, of course, so my ear was working overtime, and my favorite line is Reese's "Because I enjoy listening." - again, can hear him in my head. Though Finch's "Really, Mr. Reese; we're not in middle school." comes a close second (probably should have been "junior high," though. Corrupted by the new generation).

All I Know Is Flight: well, I have to be lyrical sometimes, so have Numbers limit, and numbers open up infinite universes, and he knows which one of those he has to believe in right now; if he could hobble Finch's expansive mind into believing the same, he would. Or the "curious and confident and breathtakingly erotic" bit, because I like adjectives. Or the pizza.

And for Untalked Of and Unseen: "Wanting is…" Harold's battered brain struggled with vocabulary, and then finished, with raw irony, "irrelevant." Because, way to not trace the path of your irony to its source, Harold. (Admittedly I, like Harold, just saw the pun to begin with, but I am not above celebrating subconscious triumphs.)

And there you have it. *gets on with other stuff*

And other emotional expressions of ONE MORE DAY TILL DOOM-ness

My tiny little local fannish group has fannish company showing up tomorrow morning through Monday evening. She doesn't like POI.

We are losing our minds.
